I say this with much confidence… I am the only person on this planet who spent their Saturday (April 15, 2023) sitting on the couch watching spring games, golf, baseball, and scrambling to come up with a unique piece of content. My brain was buzzing today and I came up with the brilliant idea to have AI Chat or ChatGPT do a 2023 NFL Mock Draft. Perfect. I was so excited and then became so disgusted… The first overall pick was Spencer Rattler to Houston. OK. The second overall pick was Kayvon Thibodeaux to the Lions. Yeah… And the last pick I’ll share was Tyrion Davis-Price going 20th to the Titans. The AI does not know ball. Or does it… I’m giving the AI a chance to redeem itself. ChatGPT is stepping up and giving scouting reports on prospects in the upcoming draft class. I have no clue how this will go…

Liam: Let’s see a scouting report on C.J. Stroud!

ChatGPT: C.J. Stroud is a talented young quarterback who played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Here is a brief scouting report on his strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths:

  • Arm Talent: Stroud has a strong arm, and he can make all the necessary throws on the field.
  • Accuracy: He shows good accuracy, especially on intermediate and deep routes, which is critical for a successful quarterback.
  • Decision-Making: Stroud generally makes good decisions with the football and has a good understanding of the game.
  • Athleticism: Stroud is a mobile quarterback who can make plays with his feet, extending plays and escaping pressure in the pocket.

Weaknesses:

  • Experience: Stroud has only played one year of college football, and he may need more experience to develop fully.
  • Footwork: At times, Stroud’s footwork can be inconsistent, which affects his accuracy and ball placement.
  • Pocket Presence: Stroud can be quick to leave the pocket and may need to improve his ability to navigate within the pocket and keep his eyes downfield.

Overall, C.J. Stroud is a talented young quarterback with excellent arm talent and accuracy, and his athleticism adds an extra dimension to his game. With more experience and continued development, he has the potential to become a successful NFL quarterback.

Liam: Wait until the AI realizes Stroud played a second year of college football! He’s also really dang good in the pocket and does a great job of keeping his eyes downfield and looking for weapons to target. So the AI really botched that.

Liam: @Notwhiskeybobbi and @Foxborofenway need to know what makes Tyree Wilson a big-time prospect.

ChatGPT: I did not have any information on Tyree Wilson as he was not yet a widely known or established football player in 2021. However, based on recent developments, Tyree Wilson is a defensive end who played for Texas A&M University and is currently part of the 2023 NFL Draft class. Here is a brief scouting report on his strengths and weaknesses:

Strengths:

  • Size and Length: Wilson has an ideal size and length for a defensive end, standing at 6’6″ and 275 pounds, which makes him a difficult matchup for offensive linemen.
  • Athleticism: He possesses good athleticism, quickness, and agility, which allows him to be effective as a pass-rusher.
  • Versatility: Wilson has the versatility to play as an edge rusher or defensive tackle, which increases his value as a prospect.
  • Motor: Wilson shows great effort and hustle on the field, which helps him to make plays and be productive.

Weaknesses:

  • Technique: Wilson may need to refine his pass-rush technique to become more effective at the next level.
  • Consistency: At times, Wilson has shown inconsistencies in his play, which may be due to a lack of experience or focus.
  • Strength: While he has good size and length, Wilson may need to add more strength to compete with stronger and more physical offensive linemen in the NFL.

Overall, Tyree Wilson is a promising defensive end prospect with an ideal size, length, and athleticism. With further development and refinement of his technique, he has the potential to become a disruptive pass-rusher and a valuable asset for an NFL team.

Liam: I respect the AI for knowing Wilson was originally at A&M but the darn thing has no clue he’s been at Texas Tech since 2020! The scouting report is pretty sound though. Nothing too crazy. The refinement of technique being a big key going forward is a neat pickup by the AI.

Liam: @Pain9_9 and I want you to talk to us about Tyjae Spears and explain why he could be a stud in the NFL.

ChatGPT: Tyjae Spears is a young running back who played college football for the Kent State Golden Flashes. Here is a brief scouting report on his strengths and why he has the potential to be a stud in the NFL:

Strengths:

  • Speed and Acceleration: Spears possesses great speed and acceleration, which allows him to quickly hit holes and burst through the line of scrimmage.
  • Vision and Patience: He has good vision and patience, allowing him to make smart decisions on the field and find the right gaps to run through.
  • Receiving Ability: Spears is a capable receiver out of the backfield, showing good hands and route-running ability to make catches in the passing game.
  • Toughness and Durability: He has shown good toughness and durability throughout his college career, despite facing a heavy workload and contact from defenders.

In addition to these strengths, Spears has also displayed good pass-blocking ability and a willingness to contribute on special teams, which increases his value as an NFL prospect.

While there are always areas for improvement, Spears’ combination of speed, vision, and receiving ability make him an exciting prospect who has the potential to be a stud in the NFL. With the right coaching and development, he could be a dynamic weapon in a team’s offense and provide significant value as a running back and receiver.

Liam: Yeah, the AI is lost here. Tyjae played all of his college ball at Tulane. I have no clue where the thought of Kent State is coming from. Some of the report is actually good though. We know his speed, acceleration, and vision are all critical to his success in addition to being a solid receiver. The big miss is saying he’s shown durability. I remember vividly how upset and saddened I was when his 2020 season was ended due to a devastating leg injury.

Liam: @WellActuary and I are wanting to know if Deuce Vaughn will have a successful NFL career.

ChatGPT: Based on Deuce Vaughn’s college football career, there are several factors that suggest he has the potential to be successful in the NFL.

Deuce Vaughn is a running back who played for Kansas State University. He is known for his quickness, elusiveness, and versatility. Vaughn is a small, but dynamic player, standing at only 5’6″ and 168 pounds, but he has been able to make a significant impact on the field. In his freshman year, he rushed for over 600 yards and scored nine touchdowns, while also catching 25 passes for over 240 yards and two touchdowns.

Vaughn’s success in college can be attributed to his unique skill set, which includes his agility, vision, and ability to catch passes out of the backfield. His small stature and quickness make him difficult to tackle, and he has the potential to be a dangerous weapon in the passing game.

However, Vaughn’s small size and lack of bulk may be a concern for some NFL teams, as he could potentially struggle with the physicality of the pro game. Additionally, there may be questions about his ability to handle a heavy workload or be an every-down back in the NFL.

Overall, while there are no guarantees in football, Deuce Vaughn’s impressive college career and unique skill set suggest that he has the potential to be a successful NFL player if he continues to develop and refine his game.

Liam: I have no clue why the AI went in a different direction here and didn’t put the scouting report in a list like the previous ones did. But I’m not hating! This was the best report the AI cooked up. My biggest takeaway would be the take about the NFL physicality causing issues for Deuce. I personally don’t agree with that and think Deuce will be just fine in that aspect of the sport.

Liam: @iamtyxxiii would like to know your thoughts on Paris Johnson Jr. of Ohio State.

ChatGPT: Paris Johnson Jr. is an offensive tackle who played college football for Ohio State University. He was considered one of the top offensive line recruits in the country in the 2020 recruiting class, and he has lived up to expectations during his time in college. Here is a brief scouting report on his strengths and areas for improvement as an NFL prospect:

Strengths:

  • Size and Athleticism: Johnson has an impressive physical profile, standing at 6’7″ and weighing 305 pounds, and he possesses the necessary size, length, and athleticism to be a successful NFL offensive tackle.
  • Technique and Footwork: He has excellent technique and footwork, which is a key attribute for an offensive lineman. He has quick and nimble feet for his size, which allows him to mirror pass-rushers and maintain leverage in the trenches.
  • Football IQ and Awareness: Johnson has shown good awareness and football IQ, which allows him to make the right decisions on the field. He is able to identify potential blitzes and stunts by opposing defenses and make the necessary adjustments.
  • Versatility: Johnson has played both tackle positions during his college career, showing the ability to handle both the left and right side of the offensive line.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Hand Placement: Johnson can sometimes be inconsistent with his hand placement, which can lead to him losing leverage in the trenches.
  • Anchor Strength: He has shown good strength in his lower body, but there may be some concern about his ability to anchor against larger and more powerful defenders in the NFL.

Overall, Johnson’s combination of size, athleticism, technique, and football IQ make him a highly regarded NFL prospect. While there is always room for improvement, he has the potential to be a successful NFL offensive tackle and a cornerstone of an offensive line for years to come.

Liam: What instantly stood out to me is that the AI points out Paris Johnson Jr.’s nimble feet — something I’ve highlighted myself for a few years now. Then the AI hyped up his football IQ and awareness, which really are monstrous traits of his. Many evaluators are bringing up inconsistent hand placement for Paris too. So all in all the AI did a tremendous job here.
