Predicting Multiple Round 2 Picks – 2022 NFL Draft

The first round of the 2022 NFL Draft was insane. And that might be an understatement! I’m ecstatic and I’m looking forward to day two. I think it’ll be fun to predict some round two picks… Let’s see how this goes!

Logan Hall – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (33rd Overall)

You have to predict the literal first selection of the 2nd round, right? Logan Hall at 33 is a no-brainer in my eyes and I fully expect this to be the pick. He’s a versatile defensive lineman that brings a lot to the table. Hall was thought of as a potential first round pick, I mocked him to Tampa Bay at 27. They move down a bit and still get their guy.

Malik Willis – New York Giants (36th Overall)

Do it. DO IT COWARDS. DO THIS!!! The New York Football Giants find themselves in a position where they could draft MALIK WILLIS in the SECOND ROUND! I would have applauded and given such high praise to the G-Men if they took Malik at five or seven. The time to find your franchise QB is right NOW! Willis is a no-brainer at 36, and he’ll end up competing for the QB1 job this season no matter what the haters say. Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal, and Malik Willis would be a masterful haul.

David Ojabo – Houston Texans (37th Overall)

David Ojabo was going to be a top 15 pick had he not suffered an Achilles injury at his Pro Day. There was still a chance someone would gamble on the soon to be 22-year old in the first round, that didn’t happen though. I think the Texans are live to snag Ojabo at 37. Ojabo is very unlikely to suit up in 2022 and that’s ok for a Texans team that shouldn’t expect to compete this season. You’re essentially taking a top 15 player in this class at 37 and hoping he comes back at full strength in 2023 and shows to be a steal at 37.

Jaquan Brisker – New York Jets (38th Overall)

Let’s make another prediction for a New York team. Jaquan Brisker is an ideal selection for a New York Jets team that has crushed this draft. They could benefit greatly from an offensive linemen but with some of the best at the position off the board already… Go accumulate talent and improve this roster. It’s clear to us all that the Jets have drafted three of the top players on their board — Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and the trade up to select Jermaine Johnson II. While I might not be Johnson’s biggest believer, it’d be ignorant to say this haul isn’t an A+++ with him being a big part of that. Whatever though, it’s time to add another stellar talent to the defense, and the Jets can do that with Brisker, an enforcing playmaker that’s ready to patrol center field day one. Brisker’s a very undervalued prospect and I don’t understand why.

Matt Corral – Seattle Seahawks (40th Overall)

The Seattle Seahawks can’t enter this season with Drew Lock as the clear cut QB1, right?? There was some talk that Seattle and potentially Atlanta would move up for their QB of choice in Round 1. Well… that just didn’t hold true and that’s because of how the board fell. Seattle’s guy might just be Matt Corral. Would the Seahawks move up for him? I don’t think so. I’m positive that Corral will be there at 40, and they hold 41 as well. The can take Corral and add anything else at 41.

Jalen Tolbert – Detroit Lions (46th Overall)

The Lions dealt picks 32 and 34, and they still hold 46. I thought this team was a prime candidate to select South Alabama’s Jalen Tolbert and I still do. Antwaan Randle El raved about Tolbert’s play at the Senior Bowl and believes he’ll be a good receiver in this league. Now you might say, they drafted Jameson Williams… Why would they go receiver again? Remember when Randle El boldly stated that he wants to add three receivers this offseason? Sign one, draft two. They signed D.J. Chark. They traded up and drafted Jameson Williams. They’ve got to draft a second, and I truly believe that Jalen Tolbert is the ideal receiver for Detroit.

Roger McCreary – Arizona Cardinals (55th Overall)

Arizona had one huge goal in this draft — make Kyler Murray happy, The Cardinals accomplished that with the acquisition of Hollywood Brown. The next goal is to make some changes on defense, and they could really improve that secondary. I’ll throw a dart and say Roger McCreary is the call at 55. He’d come in and compete from day one.

Khalil Shakir – Green Bay Packers (59th Overall)

The Green Bay Packers didn’t draft a receiver in Round 1. That wasn’t a bad play by any means, and I agreed with it but disagreed with their choice of Devonte Wyatt. Oh well. It’s a new day, a new round, and a new opportunity to draft Aaron Rodgers a receiver. And man… you could be adding a stud at 59. The Packers have done plenty to upset Rodgers, but this move would satisfy the gunslinger. Khalil Shakir is going to thrive in the NFL no matter where he plays. He would play at an even higher level in Green Bay and become a quick favorite of Rodgers.

Coby Bryant – Cincinnati Bengals (63rd Overall)

Let’s just take a shot here. Let’s get crazy because “reaches” happen, just look at New England’s first-round pick. The Cincinnati product Coby Bryant will stay in Cincy and transform from a Bearcat to a Bengal. Most people assume that Coby will be a Round 3 pick. Would he be there at 95 for Cincinnati’s third-round pick? I don’t know… in my eyes, Bryant is a really underrated player. While he might have the highest ceiling of some of the prospects, he’s going to be an impactful player that does so many positive things. This pick wouldn’t be seen as a reach if I told you the Bengals could be drafting a starting CB with quality coverage skills in both man and zone in addition to possessing elite leadership skills. Heck of a player and I’d love to see the Bengals roll with him at 63.

I am a diehard UCLA fan that has enjoyed (?) mediocrity year after year. My favorite CFB moment was witnessing UCLA comeback from 34 down against Texas A&M. Being at the Rose Bowl for that historic moment is something I’ll never forget. I have written about CFB since I was 14 and my favorite thing to do is give under-the-radar athletes the recognition they deserve. You might know me from @NoContextCFB !
