Prolific Pick’em — The Best Underdog Fantasy College Football Plays of Week 4

So maybe I’m just bad at this. Our Jayden Daniels pick pushed last week, Sahmir Hagans only had one catch for four yards, D.J. Uiagalelei ended up throwing not one but two interceptions, and Travis Hunter lacerated his liver. A banner week for my Prolific Pick’em entry. We move to Week 4 and I completely understand if you fade every pick.

J. Michael Sturdivant — Higher Than 54.5 Receiving Yards

The Dante Moore to J. Michael Sturdivant connection is unequivocally elite. Sturdivant is one of the more underrated wideouts out there and is worthy of any NFL hype he gets. Saturday presents a gargantuan opportunity for him to get his name out there with a strong performance against a stingy Utah defense. He’s gone higher than the 54.5 receiving yards total in two of three games this season, but there’s been limited playing time due to UCLA blowing out San Diego State and NC Central. He went for 136 against Coastal and played that entire game. Moore checked into that one after a few drives and instantly connected with Sturdy for a significant gain downfield resulting in a touchdown. I think this number is just too low and I love taking the shot here.

Andrew Armstrong — Higher Than 52.5 Receiving Yards

One of my favorite players in the portal was Andrew Armstrong, and boy is it sick to see him thriving at Arkansas. The Texas A&M Commerce transfer is a big 6-foot-4 target that offers up a promising all-around game as he demands targets every drive. 52.5 is too low of a number here for the Hogs’ No. 1 target who has thrived thus far with outings of 78, 21, and 98 receiving yards. In the toughest game Arkansas played thus far against BYU, Armstrong snagged nine receptions in a fairly high-scoring, tightly-contested game. This week, the Hogs head to LSU where they are projected to get smoked. All I know is that they’ll be throwing the ball quite a bit, especially if they are trailing quickly. Armstrong should benefit in the game script and go higher than 52.5.

There’s not much I like when looking at this slate and I was hoping to grab a passing yards pick for Preston Stone but he wasn’t on the board. If he is when you look… take the higher on Stone passing yards if it’s under 310.5. I’ll keep my eyes peeled to see if that total drops, but it’ll be an official play for me if I see it.

I am a diehard UCLA fan that has enjoyed (?) mediocrity year after year. My favorite CFB moment was witnessing UCLA comeback from 34 down against Texas A&M. Being at the Rose Bowl for that historic moment is something I’ll never forget. I have written about CFB since I was 14 and my favorite thing to do is give under-the-radar athletes the recognition they deserve. You might know me from @NoContextCFB !
