Prolific Pick’em — The Best Underdog Fantasy College Football Plays of Week 5

We did it. We actually did it! We won our entry last week! Albeit it was just two picks and the third bonus play lost, but we’re back in the win column. Let’s keep that good mojo going in Week 5.

Alex McPherson — Higher Than 5.0 Kicking Points

The first play for this slate is a play on a kicker. Evan’s lil bro Alex has one heck of a boot and will be kicking in the NFL soon enough. The redshirt freshman is enjoying a strong start to the 2023 season as he has made all 16 extra points and all three field goals. He even made a 53-yarder with ease last week at Texas A&M. If this game is going to be close, Alex McPherson’s leg will be relied on, and I think he easily makes two field goals on Saturday.

Riley Leonard – Higher Than 247.5 Passing + Rushing Yards

Riley Leonard is goated, and I expect Duke to win this game. While folks recognize that this Duke team is good, they don’t recognize that the Blue Devils are truly great and can compete with some of the top teams in the country, including Notre Dame and Florida State. I expect this to be a statement game for Duke. An opportunity for fans to stop looking at the Blue Devils like a cute puppy and begin to see an ominous wolf in the distance who has no intentions of messing around. I believe this is the first time all season we’ll see the Duke offense unleashed. I’m saying we’ll see the vertical passing game in use. Meaning that Leonard’s passing yards market is undervalued, and we get the help of his legs to fly by this 247.5 digit. Let’s go!

Andrew Armstrong — Higher Than 60.5 Receiving Yards

I took Andrew Armstrong to eclipse 52.5 receiving yards last week and he racked up 76 on six catches against LSU. He’s the clear WR1 on this team and KJ Jefferson’s favorite target. Armstrong is quickly rising up draft boards and showcasing his great skill set every single Saturday. He’s got the opportunity to carve again and do it in the bright lights of Jerry World. The market is just undervaluing this player again, and we must take advantage. He should demand targets yet again and soar past the 60.5 number.

Season Single Picks: 8-11

Season Entries: 2-4

I am a diehard UCLA fan that has enjoyed (?) mediocrity year after year. My favorite CFB moment was witnessing UCLA comeback from 34 down against Texas A&M. Being at the Rose Bowl for that historic moment is something I’ll never forget. I have written about CFB since I was 14 and my favorite thing to do is give under-the-radar athletes the recognition they deserve. You might know me from @NoContextCFB !
